I am Fine

About

This video is about my self-healing process of depression during my first year of university. By this video I want to resonate with students who are suffering sadness, homesickness and loneliness as what I had before. Through showing how I overcame my inner fear and returned to the normal life finally by psychotherapy and enlightenment from new friends, as well as inner reconciliation with myself, I was inspired that we should positively face the future university life.

Story Arc

This is a true story about how my second life begins.

Like any other people who is turning their 18s, my childhood flashed me as happiness, security, and love under the protection of my family. All I knew when the childhood was end and put away my childish stuff started since the first time I crossed the Pacific Ocean. It all ended in a sudden but I barely remember the date I was trapped in one of those darkness nightmares. Was it because the sudden pass-away of my best friend, homesickness or the increasing depression pushed on me until my lungs burst?

To punish myself from nowhere, I forfeited any desire to live happily. I admitted that I was sick like a homeless dog. I kept forcing myself to answer the question: should I be like this forever? The clock tolled again, and it kept haunting back for me. As this experience was not something I ever really got used to. However, as I started to ask for help from my friends, my doctor, and peer support group, I got out of the haze and found the motivation. Their help was like a sparkle in the gloomy night, bright, and filled with hope and kindness.

As I knew some of my other friends also suffered from depression, homesickness, especially international students. I chose to film my emotion as a video to encourage more people like me by sharing similar life experiences. Also, I volunteered in the peer support group with my other classmate to help others and heal myself too.
